Child Support Modification Lawyer Orlando Florida

Lawyer in Orlando, Florida Providing Counsel for Divorce Modification and Enforcement Actions

If your divorce has been finalized, but your circumstances have changed, making it difficult or impossible to abide by the terms of a parenting plan or support order, you want an experienced attorney to help you petition for changes that will work. Likewise, if your ex is not complying with the terms of a divorce decree, you need a lawyer to help you navigate a contempt proceeding.

At the office of William M. Stern, Attorney and Counselor at Law, we have represented men and women throughout central Florida for over 30 years. We focus on the best interests of your minor children and because we understand that divorced parents still need to interact, strive to help you find solutions that minimize the stress and anxiety of divorce. As a result, most of our new clients come to us as referrals.

To set up an appointment, contact our office or call us at 407-287-5271 (toll-free at 888-341-0848).

Modification of Existing Divorce Orders

We work with men and women on either side of a request for modification of child custody, visitation or support orders. In many instances, the request for modification stems from the desire of one of the parents to relocate outside of the central Florida area, either for work or to be closer to family.

We handle modification requests arising for a variety of reasons, including:

  • reduction in the income of one of the parties
  • change in job shift or work responsibilities, making custody and visitation unfeasible
  • change in the health of the custodial or non-custodial parent
  • changes in the needs of the child—medical, educational or other special needs

When working with you to modify custody, visitation or support obligations, we will always seek solutions that are in the best interests of your children. We will also work to protect and maintain your role as a parent.

Protecting Your Rights in Contempt Proceedings

We handle all types of contempt proceedings related to the failure to comply with divorce judgments, including:

  • failure to pay support or other financial obligations
  • failure to make children available for visitation
  • failure to include non-custodial parent in critical decisions where the parties have joint legal custody

We often see problems with support payments when the non-custodial parent loses a job or has a reduction in income. If this has happened to you, you need to take action immediately to seek a modification. Don't try to cover and find yourself in contempt of court.
